A light wind that dropped further during the course of the action again put pay to racing halfway through the penultimate day of Act 3 in Oman. However, in the four races that were sailed, Alinghi continued their improvement, recording a race victory and another second place that moved them up the leaderboard into fourth place outright. Alinghi’s victory in Race 12 of the Act was achieved after the team had established an early lead, which they held onto despite pressure from both Land Rover BAR Academy and Oman Air, a vindication of the decisions the team made in their attempts to find clean air. With only one point now separating Ernesto Bertarelli’s team from third on the leaderboard, tomorrow’s final day of racing is all the more important.
