Tudor Team Alinghi returns to the Gulf of Angels today, sitting fourth overall after an encouraging opening day in Sardinia. Clear skies and a building south-easterly breeze set the stage for another spectacular afternoon of racing, with the AC40 fleet expected to face fast, physical and tightly contested conditions once again. With wave heights forecast to increase through the afternoon, boat handling and consistency could prove decisive across today’s three races.

Race Day 2 // Race 4
Tudor Team Alinghi endured a frustrating opening race on Day 2 after showing early promise in light and difficult conditions on the Gulf of Angels. Paul Goodison and Phil Robertson launched strongly off the start line and briefly led the fleet on the opening upwind leg before the Swiss crew slipped back in the softer breeze. A costly splashdown off the foils on the fourth leg dropped Tudor Team Alinghi to the back of the fleet, leaving the team with too much ground to recover as Team New Zealand claimed the race win.

Race Day 2 // Race 5
Tudor Team Alinghi saw its second race of the afternoon unravel early after penalties at the start left the Swiss crew chasing from the back of the fleet in light conditions. Pushing hard for position off the line, the team struggled to recover lost ground before a capsize during a downwind gybe brought the race to an early end. All four sailors were quickly confirmed safe as the shore and support teams immediately turned their attention to preparing the AC40 for the final race of the day.
"It's been a tough day today so far; we're having a few technical issues, but the guys are in good shape", Coach Richard Mason

Race Day 2 // Race 6
After a difficult earlier race and technical setbacks, Tudor Team Alinghi fought through challenging light-air conditions in Race 6 on the Gulf of Angels. The team battled for fifth with sharp manoeuvres and strong communication before finishing seventh, closing out a tough but valuable learning day ahead of Sunday’s final races.
