Augustin Maillefer is a newcomer to sailing, but he has plenty of experience being on the water, as he competed in the men's quadruple sculls at the 2012 and 2016 Summer Olympics.
Joining Alinghi Red Bull Racing is Augustin’s first role in a sailing team, but he’s ready for what’s ahead. “It's a unique challenge that allows me to put my physical skills at the service of the team,” he said, adding: “I enjoy being surrounded by fully committed people seeking for excellence whilst collaborating with each other. It’s what motivates me.”

Having to transfer his skills from rowing to sailing has created some changes in opinions, including his thoughts on the weather. “I used to say that Lake Geneva was too windy. Now I might say it's not windy enough...” he joked.

Augustin is sports mad through and through and enjoys all sports, including running, rowing, hockey, frisbee and much more. He also enjoys competitive video games and everything regarding well-being, personality and self-development.
