The Mistral abated for day two of the iShares Cup in Hyères, France blowing a more moderate if gusty 15-20knot north westerly and allowing for nine races. The Alinghi X40 had a good day, scoring a 1st, 2nd, 5th, 1st, 6th, 4th, 3rd, 1st and a 4th to move into the lead overall ahead of Team Origin by eight points.
Quotes from the race course: Ed Baird, helmsman, comments on the team’s multi-hull learning curve and how important using the X40 platform is towards the Alinghi America’s Cup multi-hull campaign:
“The guys did a great job today. They delivered over and over again. We had many different situations and we were consistently in control through different wind conditions.
“We are lucky and obviously happy to be at the top of the scoreboard today, but the most important thing is that we learnt a lot each race. Our learning process is the most important thing at the moment.”
